About the role:

At Tarragindi War Memorial Kindergarten, we believe that early childhood is a critical learning period in children’s lives and that play is the essential learning vehicle to enable our children to explore, problem-solve, develop friendships, imagine, and extend their capabilities in language, literacy, numeracy, and physical competency.

We value an inclusive environment, natural play spaces, and recognise the need for sustainable practices to help children develop awareness of their community responsibility. We connect children and families with each other and the local community.

Our play spaces are open-ended, incorporate loose parts, and encourage children to take an active role in their learning and development.

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and experienced Assistant to join our team, commencing January 2022. This is a full-time position with a 12-month probation period. You will be required to work 7:33am to 3:30pm Monday to Fridays, as well as to participate in outside of hour’s events and community engagement activities throughout the year.

This opportunity will suit someone with kindergarten/early childhood experience who supports children’s right to play.

Your experience, skills and knowledge will include:

  • Minimum one year (Certificate lll) qualification in Children’s Services
  • Experience working in an early childhood education and care setting with children under five years
  • A demonstrated ability to support the implementation of a child-directed, open-ended program, ensuring the needs of individual children are met
  • A demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member and to support the teaching role
  • Well-developed interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, as well as skills in creating electronic observations using the StoryPark application
  • An understanding of early childhood development theories, the EYLF, QKLG and NQF
  • A demonstrated ability to actively support and guide children’s behaviour in positive ways, with a focus on relationship development and security
  • An understanding and empathetic attitude to working with families and children
  • Willingness to accept Responsible Person in Charge role if qualified

This role will commence on Tuesday 18th January 2022 with room and program preparation time over this week prior to the children commencing the kindergarten year at the start of Term 1.
