Early Childhood Teacher
A rare and exciting opportunity exists for a suitably qualified and highly motivated Early Childhood Teacher to work within Aspley East Kindergarten C & K on Mondays and Tuesdays from 7.00am to 4.30pm on a 6-month contract commencing in July 2026, with potential for extension.

We are a nurturing and dynamic community Kindergarten dedicated to providing a safe, inclusive, and inspiring learning environment for young children. Our team is passionate about fostering creativity, curiosity, and emotional growth in our children. We’re looking for a compassionate and motivated Early Childhood Teacher to join our team and make a positive impact on young learners.

Key Criteria:

• Experience working with children aged 3–5 years
• A nurturing, patient, and caring attitude towards children
• Ability to develop and implement a play-based, child-led learning program
• Knowledge of relevant learning frameworks, such as EYLF – Early Years Learning Framework, QKLG – Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines, NQF – National Quality Framework)
• Ability to create engaging, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate learning experiences
• Understanding of child development and learning theories
• Skills in observation, documentation, and assessment of children’s learning
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with children, families, and colleagues
• Ability to build trusting relationships with children and families
• Collaborative approach to working within a team environment
• Commitment to reflective practice and continuous professional development
• Understanding of child safety, inclusion, and diversity practices
• Experience with documentation platforms, such as Story Park

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Early Childhood Education or equivalent with ACECQA approval
• Current Queensland Teachers Registration
• A valid Working with Children Check and First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
• Current Child Protection Training (or willingness to obtain)
• Current Anaphylaxis and Asthma Training (or willingness to obtain)

About us:
Aspley East Kindergarten has been in the same location in Aspley since 1966 and is nestled in between Aspley East State School and Robinson Road Marketplace.

Our centre is a two-unit community kindergarten with 88 enrolments.  Each kindy program has 22 children in the group with qualified Early Childhood Teachers and Educators in each group.

Children attend in one of the following groups:

• Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:15am to 2:30pm
• Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:15am to 2:30pm
• Monday and Tuesday from 8:15am to 3:50pm
• Thursday and Friday from 8:15am to 3:50pm

The Assistant (Educator) is accountable for assisting the Director and ECT (Early Childhood Teacher)
in the day to day running of the kindergarten and for assisting in the implementing of a safe, caring,
healthy, stimulating learning environment in order that the physical, emotional, social and
intellectual needs of the children and their parents are adequately met.

Duties and Responsibilities

• To assist the ECT in the preparation of programs.
• Participate in the planning and preparation of programmes.
• Interact positively and appropriately with children.
• Maintain a clean, hygienic environment for the children.
• Assist the ECT in maintaining accurate records of children’s behaviour and report concerns.
• Provide exceptional customer service to parents when required.

Requirements

• Certificate 3 or equivalent qualification
• Must have First Aid Certificate
• Must have Blue Card or Working with Children Card.
