Food Services Retail Assistant
Tuckshop Assistant, Buderim Mountain State School

Buderim Mountain State School P&C Association is seeking motivated and passionate individuals with strong customer service skills to join our pool of Casual Tuckshop Assistants at Banksia Café.
Role:
Tuckshop Assistants work alongside the Convenor and other Assistants to ensure efficient day-to-day operations. The successful applicant will be ready and willing to work in a fast-paced team environment following and maintaining strict food safety guidelines. Tuckshop Assistants work as a team, planning, cooking and delivering nutritious and seasonal menus for the school community. This is a casual position within a not-for-profit organisation.
Duties include:
Assist in the day-to-day operations of the Banksia Café;
Assist with the preparation of hot and cold food, ensuring it is presented in a timely, professional and efficient manner and in accordance with established routines and procedures (including cooking & presentation of food);
Operate with cash, EFTPOS and Flexischools in accordance with established routines and procedures, ensuring professionalism and courtesy to staff and students;
Comply with standards relating to food hygiene, personal hygiene, cleaning of premises and general preparation of food within routines and procedures developed by the Tuckshop Convenor;
Comply with any Workplace Health and Safety Standards & Legislation;
Clean and maintain equipment within routines and procedures, including fridges and freezers;
Report any maintenance issues to Tuckshop Convenor;
Support special event days and other catered school functions as required;
Check and record deliveries;
Check temperatures of food;
Stock fridges and food displays;
Count, rotate and store stock; and
Other related duties as required from time to time.
Requirements and attributes:
Experience in a fast-paced commercial kitchen environment;
Sound knowledge of food preparation and cooking styles;
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
Excellent organisational and time management abilities;
Ability to work effectively in a team environment with both employees and volunteers;
Always maintain an elevated level of personal and professional presentation;
Ability to work with minimum supervision;
Current and valid Working with Children Blue Card (Paid Employee) or be eligible to apply for one; and
Food Safety Handling Certificate or be willing to engage in completing course.
