About Us
The Hughenden Kindergarten & Early Childhood Centre is a community-managed, not-for-profit childcare service located in regional Northwest Queensland. Our C&K affiliated centre offers a long day care program for 0-5 year-olds, an approved Kindergarten Program run by a Bachelor qualified Early Childhood Teacher, and before and after school care for children aged 5-12 years.
We are a small team of dedicated educators, licensed to care for up to 41 children in total at any one time. Our service operates across three rooms and due to our size, you will be able to develop strong connections with the children, families and the wider community.
We have an exciting opportunity for an individual wanting to contribute to the growth and development of our Centre. We envisage a bright future for our Centre with predicted growth in the region and are looking for the right person to assist in unlocking our full potential!
You will be supported by an Assistant Director and ECT in this role as well as a Volunteer Management Committee.
About the role
Day-to-day, your key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
The delivery of high-quality early childhood education and care based on the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG).
Ensure the Centre operates within the requirements of applicable industry regulations as Nominated Supervisor of the service.
Foster strong trusting relationships between children, families and staff
To further enhance a strong, cohesive and collaborative team.
Encourage meaningful parent participation in all aspects of service provision.
Provide a flexible, relevant and responsive service that meets the needs of the community.
Ensure cost-effective service provision and the best investment of available resources.
Support the Volunteer Management Committee in their responsibilities.

To effectively lead the Centre, our ideal candidate will possess the following personal attributes:

Nurturing: compassionate, dedicated to children’s growth, and an understanding of the importance of a safe and stimulating environment.
Time Management: the capacity to balance administrative duties, the needs of children, families, and staff, build positive relationships, and stay up to date with industry regulations and trends.
Confident: a self-assured leader who can inspire trust and serve as a positive role model for staff and children with a drive and willingness to give things a go.
Selection Criteria
To be successful in this role, you must have:
A Diploma or Bachelor’s Qualification in Early Childhood Education.
A Current Blue Card, Senior First Aid and CPR, including Asthma and Anaphylaxis training.
Demonstrated experience in a leadership or management position, or the equivalent transferable knowledge and skills.
Knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework and the National Quality Standard
