Drought Angels provides a unique service for which it is has become well known for within the rural sector.  Drought Angels is the charity run by big hearts, who also offers a listening ear, a warm hug and personalised support to each farming family.

 

About the Role,

This is a RARE opportunity to be able to be a part of something great, Drought Angels are a well-known not for profit organisation helping our Primary Producers through tough times.

Working on the front line you will be speaking directly to Primary Producers that have been dealing with drought for a number of years or recently impacted by other Natural Disasters. This role requires hard work and resilience, you can make a real difference to our primary producers by assisting them through these times.

You will need to have a strong, compassionate heart and be emotionally resilient for this role.

  • Full-Time Farmer Support role
  • Role is based in Chinchilla
  • 38 hours per week
  • Monday to Friday

About you,

For this position, we are looking for someone with:

  • Rural knowledge – Essential
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office -Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Office and Administration Experience including
    • Answer and transfer telephone calls or take messages
    • Process incoming and outgoing mail
    • Schedule appointments
    • Provide general information to staff, clients, or the public
    • Copy, file, and update paper and electronic documents
    • Collect information and perform data entry with a high level of accuracy
  • Must show compassion and empathy, be able to work in a busy team environment with limited supervision
  • Have great problem solving skills
  • Willingness to learn new specific skills, must be adaptable/flexible and be able to work in other areas of our organisation when required
  • Abide by STRICT confidentiality principles
  • Emotional Resilience – in this environment we hear a lot of difficult stories, suicide is sometimes mentioned as well as other mental health issues
  • Be able to attend Psychological First Aid course in Brisbane (at DA cost)
