Boondall Community Kindergarten has an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and highly motivated Assistant Educator. This opportunity exists from the start of the 2023 Kindergarten year due to the retirement of our Assistant after 32 years at Boondall Kindergarten. We are a small team who are passionate about nurturing and inspiring children. The Assistant Educator is a valued professional who is responsible for assisting the Kindergarten Teacher/Director in the day to day running of the kindergarten and for assisting in the implementing of a safe, caring, healthy, stimulating learning environment.

The Role

  • Assistant Educator – Permanent Part Time commencing mid-January 2023
  • 38 hours per fortnight worked as a 5-day fortnight in Group 1 (Monday, Tuesday, and alternate
    Wednesday as per kindergarten calendar)
  • Remuneration will be in accordance with the Boondall Kindergarten Early Childhood Education
    Enterprise Agreement (part time base salary $25,895 to $30,547 + superannuation)

Duties and Responsibilities (a full position description is available)

  • Assisting the Teacher / Director in the provision of high-quality care for the children
  • Providing a stimulating, secure, caring, and safe environment for the children
  • Assisting the Teacher by preparing and maintaining equipment and materials, and the
    environment as required
  • Working as a team member
  • Supporting the Teacher, Director (Nominated Supervisor) & Management Committee by
    providing any feed-back, information and issues of concern which will contribute to the
    improvement of the program
  • Supporting meaningful parent participation in all aspects of the service provision

Requirements

  • Minimum Certificate lll qualification in early childhood (qualification must be recognised by
    ACECQA)
  • Current First Aid, CPR and Asthma & Anaphylaxis certification
  • Hold or willing to obtain a paid Blue Card (Exemption Card)
  • Previous experience working with children
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication
  • Ability to self-manage and meet timelines
  • Demonstration of initiative and innovation
  • Commitment to quality outputs and competent in information technology
  • General knowledge and/or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of relevant legislation
  • Professional presentation and attire

About Boondall Kindergarten

We are a community owned non-profit organisation affiliated with Lady Gowrie and have been operating on the present site since 1970.

We provide quality early childhood education for children aged 3.5 years to school age. The Kindergarten operates as a single unit centre offering a kindergarten programme based on the Early Years Learning framework.
