Teacher/Nominated Supervisor Role at Upper Mount Gravatt Kindergarten
Fixed Term Part-time maternity leave contract
The Role:
At Upper Mt Gravatt Kindergarten, a unique opportunity has become available for an experienced Early
Childhood professional to lead in the role of Teacher/ Nominated Supervisor commencing 19th January
2026 and ending 12 th December 2026. This position involves sharing the role of Nominated Supervisor with
the other Kindergarten Teacher, supporting and managing the day-to-day operation of our affiliate
Kindergarten service. You will be the qualified Early Childhood Teacher of the Monday, Tuesday program.
This position includes 5 hours of non-contact time per week allocated to the Nominated Supervisor role.
About us:
We are a non–profit community kindergarten affiliated with Lady Gowrie QLD. We have been in operation
since 1963 and are settled into a natural environment. The kindergarten offers a 1unit service running a
Monday and Tuesday (8:15am – 3:45pm) group and a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday group (9:00am –
2:15pm).
Your role is to provide a vibrant and flexible environment that is responsive to the interests and abilities of
each child, promoting autonomy and the love of learning.
You will need:
Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood or equivalent (recognized by ACECQA as an early
childhood teaching qualification) OR Bachelor of Primary Teaching with approved diploma level
or higher education and care qualification
Registration with the Queensland College of Teachers. This registration must be renewed
annually
Paid Blue Card or exemption Blue Card
Current Senior First Aid including Asthma and Anaphylaxis training (or willing to obtain)
Key selection criteria:
Demonstrated leadership skills, mentoring of staff and collaboration and teamwork with colleagues.
Demonstrated excellence in forming on–going professional relationships with families and
stakeholders.
A current understanding of National Quality Framework, Early Childhood and Care Legislation and
the Assessment and Rating process
Experience in implementing and delivering a high quality, play based Kindergarten program
including knowledge of the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines and the Early Years
Learning Framework.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Commitment to continuous improvement in all aspects of the service and ongoing professional
learning and personal growth
Demonstrated ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative and make decisions.
